Description:
The successful candidate must be knowledgeable about physical education, and have the ability to communicate, inspire trust and confidence, and motivate students, as well as understand the students’ educational and emotional needs.
The successful candidate must be able to recognize and respond to individual and cultural differences in students and employ different teaching methods that will result in higher student achievement. They must be organized, dependable, patient, and creative, able to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with other teachers, support staff, parents, and members of the community.
Requirements:
•Kansas certification in content area assignment or certification in a different state with qualifications that allow for licensure in Kansas. Highly Qualified under No Child Left Behind preferred.
•Secondary Licensure/Endorsement/Health PE Endorsement.
•Advanced degree, experience and/or specialized training in curriculum content and instructional pedagogy relative to assignment.
•Knowledge and experience with instruction, methodology and materials related to bilingual education. ESL/ESOL endorsement preferred.
•Demonstrated ability to work with fellow educators to develop, implement and evaluate instructional strategies and materials to improve teaching and learning for all students.
•Kansas Certification of Health on file in the Central Office.
•Personal Qualities - Appearance, grooming and personality which establish a desirable example for students. Ability to meet District standards for physical and mental health. Better than average recommendations from student teaching supervisors or other professionals who have observed the personal characteristics, scholastic attainment and classroom performance of the teacher.
