Career Changer
Kansas offers the restricted teaching license as an alternative path to begin teaching to individuals interested in changing careers. If you have a four-year degree in a subject area or degree with coursework equivalent to a Kansas institution’s approved program, you may qualify to begin your teaching career while obtaining the necessary teaching skills in an alternative teacher education program. For example, if you have a four-year degree in mathematics you may qualify to begin teaching math at the middle or high school level, while obtaining your teaching license. This process involves collaboration between the school district, applicant, and higher education institution.
